CAR SLOW, HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION – DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER CLEANING

What are the symptoms of a blocked diesel particulate filter?

Everything you need to know about diesel particulate filters

What does a Diesel Particulate Filter cleaning do? Do you even need to pay attention to it? Nowadays, all modern diesel cars are equipped with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) from the manufacturer. Just like the catalytic converter, the DPF is responsible for cleaning the exhaust gases. Particularly, its main task is filtering out the soot particles from the exhaust gases. In order for the DPF to keep fully functioning, it needs to be able to regenerate continuously. During this regeneration, the soot particles filtered out of the exhaust gases burn off and the fine clogged pores of the filter become free again.

How DPF regeneration works

Said regeneration happens at an average exhaust gas temperature of 600 °C. The engine usually reaches this temperature on long motorway journeys at high speed. Frequent driving in stop-and-go or city traffic, on the other hand, rarely allows the exhaust gas temperature to rise above 400 °C without assistance. The soot is therefore not burnt off and increasingly obstructs the function of the DPF by clogging the fine pores in the filter.

Consequences of excessive fine dust pollution

If the Diesel Particulate Filter cleaning is not possible and functions incompletely due to clogged pores, this poses a danger to people and the environment. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), global air pollution caused an estimated 4.2 million premature deaths worldwide in 2016. This is because fine dust can lead to cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and even cancer.

Time to add the additive – signs for the diesel particulate filter cleaning

Signs of a clogged DPF include reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption and exhaust emissions… or simply the display of the DPF light in your cockpit. If you reached any of these signals, then it´s high time to use a special fuel additive such as BIZOL DPF Regeneration+ d61.

How does diesel particulate filter cleaning work?

BIZOL DPF Regeneration+ d61 lowers the temperature for burning the particulates to 350 °C. This makes regeneration of the DPF possible even when driving frequently in stop-and-go or city traffic. You just need to add the product directly to the fuel. In countries with good fuel quality, we recommend its use with every third tank filling. In countries with poor fuel quality, our experts advise a preventive application with every tank filling.

Still not sure? These are the advantages of a clean diesel particulate filter:

1. improved engine performance

2. reduced fuel consumption

3. reduced exhaust emissions

4. maximum top speed

Car leaking coolant: causes, symptoms and best solutions

Driving is a blend of exhilaration and convenience, but sometimes, your trusty car can hit a snag. One of the most frustrating issues is a coolant leak.

Coolant, often referred to as the versatile 'antifreeze,' assumes the uncelebrated role of an automotive guardian, ensuring your engine's harmonious operation. This unassuming fluid stands as a bulwark against the scorching summer heat and the bone-chilling cold of winter. Nevertheless, when the vigilance of antifreeze wanes, and it embarks on an unauthorized journey beyond its confines, ominous troubles come into view.
